So Far So Good

OK, here I am back in California. With a bit of help from Nick Hodges (thanks Nick!) I’m making progress on getting the PHP product registered, but you don’t need to register to start playing. I’ve discovered that there are some interesting demo applications shipped with the IDE, and once I have worked out how to deploy applications (obviously I’m going to have to upload the VCL code) I’ll start posting some examples.

In the meantime, however, I have more important things to do. I have tickets for tonight’s baseball game.

It’s Here!

I have downloaded and installed Delphi for PHP. Unfortunately I’m going to be on the road for the next two days (taxi arriving in half an hour) so you’ll have to wait a while for first impressions.

If anyone from CodeGear is reading this, I tried to register it and I got an error message back: code 13, which it says means that my serial number is already registered to someone else. I probably won’t be able to deal with this until Thursday, but by then I’ll be back home in California and I can give you call.

Nearly There?

Ben Smith says:

Looking forward to PHP next week

And he said that on Sunday, so with any luck “next week” has now become “this week.”

CodeRage Downloads Available

The presentations from CodeRage have now been made available from the CodeGear web site. There’s a lot of good stuff there. However, these are still the raw presentations, so some of them could be a bit poor quality. Anders Ohlsson says they will be updating the presentations as they get time to clean them up.

Delphi in NJ?

I got an email from these folks today asking is I knew of anyone wanting a Delphi job in New Jersey. I wasn’t intending this blog to be a jobs board, but it is always good to know that people are hiring Delphi programmers.

Pence and Swindell on Ruby

Mike Pence has an interview with Michael Swindell of CodeGear about the company’s plans for Ruby. Right near the bottom Swindell mentioned that CodeGear will be making announcements about their plans at a Rails conference, presumably this one. So, two months to wait for something concrete, but I think it is pretty obvious what is planned.

More Delphi Blogging

Via Chris Bensen is learn that Seppy Bloom now has his own blog. Seppy did the presentation on VCL at CodeRage, and will doubtless have some fascinating insights to share.

A note here on blogroll policy. Seppy’s blog is part of the CodeGear web site, and the link I have provided is to an aggregated feed of all Delphi-related feeds by CodeGear staff. Chris blogs through his own Blogger site, which is why he is listed separately. If people would prefer me to link to CodeGear staff individually let me know.

Software Update

In anticipation of the arrival of Delphi for PHP, I have upgraded this blog to run on PHP5 (5.1.1 actually, which is what Pair currently have on offer). Everything seems to be working fine. Fingers crossed.

Reflections on CodeRage

As with most other people, I thought it went rather well. Here are some thoughts.
